Spellbinders Fave 2023 Holiday Products Hop

Hello friends! Spellbinders has released amazing products for the 2023 holiday season. I honestly don’t have a favorite and could have made thousands of samples and still not came up with a fave. Since we are fastly approaching the holidays, I opted for a quick and easy design to inspire you with. I’m thinking if you haven’t started your holiday crafting yet, then this might be up your alley since it literally took me minutes to make these beauties.

It took me longer to blend three colors of ink onto an A2 panel than it did to apply the Chic Merry Christmas to the panel. I’m not kidding when I said it took me just a few minutes to create each card. I chose three analogous colors or those that are right next to one another on the color wheel and blended them using a domed foam blender. I have used all sorts of inks with my Betterpress system, but none with the silicone foam bases so I thought I would give it a try. I was worried they’d be a little to smooshy and would ink the wrong portion of the plate. Meaning the part that isn’t raised on the press plate. Betterpress shows off it’s versatility and proves my hypothesis wrong yet again. So if you haven’t experimented with other inks, I highly recommend it. I figure you can’t go wrong… it’s just paper and ink!!!

Nothing new in this design, except the use of three colors. I used the “scariest” dark of my color blend to “stamp” the sentiment. What I mean by this is I used three colors and I used the most saturated of them for the image and sentiment. Whereas, the first card, I used a purple ink on the pink background.

I chose three very different colors of purple ink to blend this background. The top color was the most saturated, and the middle color has a bright pink undertone. I bring this up, because I want you to experiment with color. I have a general rule of going over each blended area at least twice to get the results. But do you ever color with alcohol markers and find that your colors just don’t mix? Me too!!! In this instance my bottom ink wouldn’t blend well with the middle, so I lightly glazed it with the pinker ink and you would never know they didn’t play nice with one another!!! Again… play and have fun. It’s just ink!!!
