Joy Clair Designs and Pink & Main Collaboration

Hi crafty friends, welcome back! I’m so happy you’re here today joining the Joy Clair Designs and Pink & Main blog hop! It makes my heart happy to be part of an industry where two companies can support one another, how about you? I have three cards to share using products from both companies with no particular theme, but I did throw in a little Cinco de Mayo fun, because, I just had to! Let’s take a look…

I’m not sure if I have a favorite, but I do like that the blue backgrounds keep the cards cohesive, despite one card not being a Cinco de Mayo card. I thought it was important to re-iterate that our crafty companies are better together which inspired my first card.

I printed one of the Floral Joy images onto smooth card stock and colored them with Copics. I think what makes this background stand out is the dark blue background. I recently learned during a retreat that dark backgrounds will make colors more vibrant and pop off the page. Did you notice how even the white is brighter? I knew that I needed to go bold with the sentiment as well, and chose the Together die from Pink & Main which I cut out twice and layered them for added dimension. On a piece of coordinating card stock I heat embossed a sentiment from the Together Forever stamp set and die cut it into a strip. Clear enamel dots were added as the finishing touch!

Okay, who doesn’t love this fun card? Is it time for tacos and margaritas yet? For this card, I blended distress oxides to obtain the rainbow gradient that nicely displays these cute little peppers from Spicy Like That! I sized and printed these cuties and colored them up with Copics. The cute sentiment from Pink & Main’s Fiesta stamp set is heat embossed with clear embossing powder. For the final touch I added blue glitter enamel dots which are part of the Warm Wishes Glitter Dots collection.

Now I love both stamp sets and they play very nicely with one another, which you will see in the next card. Spicy Like that comes with 9 images and 7 sentiments which can be sized to fit any project. The Fiesta stamp set comes with 5 images, 5 faces, and 8 sentiments. Honestly both are fabulous quality and you get a huge bang for you buck!

Who’s hungry now? That darling little face stamped onto the taco makes me smile! How can it not? I love that Pink & Main included the 5 faces. And that margarita face from Joy Clair is too cute. Since I am mixing the Spicy Like That digital stamps with the Fiesta physical stamps, I printed the digital first. I colored both of the focal images with Copics, and then colored the entire background with a blue copic. I made sure to ground them with a shade darker before adding the rest of the background. As you know Copics are alcohol based which means they will reactivate with rubbing alcohol or Copic blender. In this case I used a small dropper to add small dots to the area. It’s very important to go slow and let the drops dry before adding the next layers, and be careful of your boundaries or you will ruin the coloring of the images. You have to be a little patient, but it is so worth it! I added some Distress Rock Candy around the rim of the glass, I wish you could see it in the photo… it looks just like salt! Ummm. I am thirsty!

Now for the deets you’ve been waiting on!

The other two themed cards are absolutely adorable; and I find your various techniques incredibly inspirational! Your cards just make me feel happiness! Wonderful job, and thank you for sharing!
