There is something timeless about a sailing ship setting out toward the horizon. It reminds us that every journey brings new adventures, unexpected challenges, and beautiful destinations. Today’s card was inspired by that spirit of adventure and encouragement, featuring the Adventure Awaits stamp set from Pajama Crafter Stamps.
This project combines masking, stencil techniques, ink blending, and Copic coloring to create a vibrant beach scene full of depth and movement.
Building the Scene
The foundation of this card begins with the Adventure Awaits stamp set. After stamping the pirate ship, I used Masking Wonder Sheets to completely cover the image before creating the background.
Masking is one of my favorite techniques because it allows you to build a scene around your focal image while keeping it perfectly crisp. Once everything was protected, the fun really began!
Using the Sunburst Stencil, I blended Distress Inks to create the dramatic sunrise radiating across the sky. The warm yellows, oranges, and coral tones instantly draw your eye toward the ship and create the feeling of a beautiful morning at sea.
To continue the beach theme, I blended blue Distress Inks through the Casted Net Stencil, giving the water wonderful texture and subtle movement. This simple stencil technique adds visual interest without competing with the focal image.

Bringing the Ship to Life
After removing the masking paper, the magic happened.
The previously protected pirate ship and shoreline were ready to be colored with Copic markers, allowing them to stand boldly against the colorful background. Rich wood tones, weathered sails, sandy beaches, and soft ocean hues help tell the story of a ship sailing confidently toward its next adventure.
White gel pen accents were added to create foamy waves, while a few clear embellishments add sparkle that catches the light like glistening water droplets.
The sentiment, “Held Through Every Storm,” perfectly completes the design, reminding us that even life’s roughest seas eventually lead us safely home.

One of the wonderful things about being part of the Pajama Crafter Stamps community is inspiring one another.
This design was recreated from a beautiful card originally designed by Justine Dvorak earlier this month for Pajama Crafter Stamps. Justine’s creative vision served as the inspiration for this version, and I had so much fun putting my own spin on her stunning layout.
