Let Freedom Ring: Bold Patriotic Stamping with a Bald Eagle

There’s something timeless and powerful about patriotic crafting—especially when you combine bold imagery, rich textures, and a love for freedom. Today, I’m sharing a card making technique that brings all of that together with a strong Americana flair.

This project features a striking bald eagle image stamped over a bold, patterned background to create a unique underpainting. The result? A layered and symbolic design that works beautifully for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Veterans Day, or any time you want to celebrate the red, white, and blue.

Supplies Used:

• Let Freedom Ring stamp- Bald Eagle
• Bold patterned paper (red, white, blue, or star-spangled)
• Distress Oxide inks
• Blending brushes
• Heat tool (optional)
• White gel pen for highlights
• Card base and adhesive

Creating the Look:

1. Choose Your Paper:
   Start with a piece of bold patterned paper that already has strong Americana elements—stars, stripes, or distressed textures work great. This will act as your “underpainting,” giving depth and context to the stamped image.
2. Stamp Your Eagle:
   Using a bold, detailed bald eagle stamp, apply it directly onto your patterned background. I used a deep black pigment ink for strong contrast. You can heat emboss for extra dimension and shine.
3. Layer with Distress Oxides:
   Blend your Distress Oxide inks around the stamped image to add movement and atmosphere. The oxides interact beautifully with the pattern beneath, softening some areas while intensifying others. I especially love how they give that chalky, vintage Americana vibe.
4. Add Finishing Touches:
   Use a white gel pen to add subtle highlights to the eagle’s feathers or eye. Mount the finished piece onto a sturdy card base and you’ve got a meaningful, handmade card ready to honor someone special—or to proudly display as part of your patriotic décor.
