Hi there! I have a fun technique to share with you using Distress Inks and Copics along with the New Gerbera Daisies Vase red rubber stamp from Whimsy Stamps.
The reason why you can do underlay painting with Distress Inks and still use alcohol markers is because they are dye inks making them compatible with one another. Ink smooshing or underlay painting creates different textures and dimension in your coloring. It also makes coloring much easier because you don’t have to use as many colors… unless you want to.
I used Distress Inks in the colors Fossilized Amber and Shabby Shutters for the underlay technique. Once the panels were dry, I then stamped the New Gerbera Daisies Vase colored them with Copics. I used 2-3 colors of each Copic blend and kept it really simple. After popping the panel up on 3D Foam Creative Sheets, I then heat embossed a sentiment from the Unicorn Kisses stamp set in gold
Now this card was colored with the same Copic blends, but looks completely different because of the smooshing effect. I also forgot to mention that I cut the 3 in 1 Mitered Frames from an A2 panel. I used one of the frames in the first card too, but on this one I used the left over part creating a thin frame.
This last card is the most simple and only features stamping and the ink smooshing. I just wanted to show you that you can create a fantastic card with out fussing over coloring. Let me know which is your favorite!
