I’ve been kinda missing in action for the first part of this year because my house has be struck with funky gunk. Anyhow, I busted out my creativity using some of the January Subscriptions from Spellbinders’ to create a special birthday card for a friend.
I have a friend of a friend celebrating their 70th birthday so I wanted to create something special for her. She loves a shaker card, so I gravitated to the Essential Arches dies to create this fun framed card. I knew I wanted to emboss the panel with the Janauary Embossing Folder, so I did all of the die cutting first, and then embossed it. By doing it in this order you won’t lose or crush your embossed design. I also find that you get really deep impressions if you use thick cardstock or even watercolor paper. Next I die cut the Ampersand, florals and sentiments from the January Small of Die of the Month club. In my opinion this is a big die and great value for being the “small” die of the month. I cut the flowers in various pastels and layered them up to create a fun bouquet around the ampersand. I wanted to add a few extra fun details so went with gold metallic cardstock and gems to bling up the card. I sure hope she loves it.
