Two Embossing Techniques, One Stamp Set Using Flight of Fancy

Hello friends! Gosh, I had so much fun going back in time with a few oldie but good techniques using the Flight of Fancy stamp set. Do you remember the black ice method? If not you’re going to want to see this. And of course how can you not include emboss resist techniques when you have all the supplies out?

I used the Flight of Fancy feather image for both cards, but let’s talk about this one first. On this one I used an emboss resist technique by stamping it with Embossing Ink and adding fine detail embossing powders in the colors gold, silver, and copper. Then I used the Distress Ink color Uncharted Mariner over an entire panel of Bristol Smooth Cardstock, once the powders cooled. I spritzed the panel with water and sopped it using a paper towel to get the texture and then splattered it with champagne colored acryllic paint. Once that was dry, I added a sentiment from the Old Fashioned Simple Sayings and gold baubles after matting it with gold cardstock. Finally I used Eclipse Black Cardstock to create an A2 card base. So pretty right?

Typically when I do a black ice technique I use Stazon or Archival Ink as they are permanent and will stick to foil card stock. My pads were a bit dry therefore I heat embossed the Flight of Fancy feather with Versafine Nocturne Ink and clear embossing powder to get a dark, crisp impression. Once the powder was cool, I then swiped Archival Jet Black ink onto the panel leaving streaks and some areas lighter or darker. This sort of reminds me of a wood texture. Next I used swiped Embossing Ink over the entire panel and applied clear embossing powder to get that glazed or icy appearance. I repeated that process a second time because I like a lot of texture, but you don’t necessarily have to do that. I then paired it with another Old Fashioned Simple Sayings sentiment and added silver baubles. Be sure to check out the video for all of the details.
