A Three Dimensional Nutcracker Ballet Christmas Card

Hello Friends! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We had a small gathering and afterwards watched Christmas movies in our jammies. My kiddos mentioned that they were looking forward to the Nutcracker so after they left I started on this card for them. I have one more to make, but couldn’t wait to share it with you. Thankfully Scrappy Tails Crafts has the perfect Nutcracker Ballet stamp making my crafting super easy!

The one thing that always stood out to me when watching the Nutcracker was the magical Christmas tree, so I naturally started with that. I created this 3 dimensional tree by die cutting the Slimline Christmas Tree Spinner 4 times. I cut the solid layer in red and the intricate layer in green and adhered them together. Since the tree is symmetrical I was able to score each of them down the middle with ease using a score board. To create the dimension I glued the tips of the tree together creating a star. The end piece on each side was then adhered flat to the card to make it pop, but I am jumping ahead just a bit.

After I was pleased with the way the tree came together I quickly applied a silver glaze through the Starry Night stencil onto a 3.5 x8.5 inch panel and set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest. While the panel dried, I stamped and colored the beautiful images from the Nutcracker Ballet set and cut the matting layer and card base. I made this slimline card slightly larger than normal measuring 4 x9 inches which will fit inside an A10 or business envelope.

The sentiment was embossed in white onto the front panel just before assembling the card. Since the tree is the focal point of my card, I adhered it first and assembled the scene around it. If you remember, I suggested that I glued the tree so that it would create a star, by doing this the entire tree will fold and lay flat in case you want to mail it. This without a doubt will require extra postage, but for me that won’t be an issue as I will hand deliver it. I hope you love this one as much as I do!
