Dreaming Of a Candy Cane Filled Christmas

Hello friends! How are ya? Man I’m doing great! I am so ready for the Holidays to be here! I am having too much fun crafting and coloring that you’d think I was drunk on Egg Nog and Candy Canes! But seriously isn’t this sleepy little elf too cute? I can hardly stand it!!! You can find this cutie over at Whimsy Stamps so hop on over!

I colored this sweet elf and his Candy Cane with Copics and then colored the background in dark blue. You will notice the gorgeous moon, which I stenciled with Distress Oxide Antique Linen ink. You say, Copics aren’t compatible with Distress Oxides, you are right about that, so I very carefully masked the top of the Candy Cane with washi tape and blended carefully. I also traced the very outside of the moon with my Copic being sure not to touch the ink. Whew that was stressful. I’m just kidding. Easy Peasy! I of course splattered the background after coloring which meant using my hand as a mask too. I learned something new… White Chalk paint will turn pink when you splatter onto a blue background. Be sure to us Dr Ph Martins Bleed Proof white to avoid that situation!!!!!

So now that you have laughed at all of my afterthoughts… and you know you do it too…. let’s take one last look…

Just a small disclaimer! All items used in all of my projects are (or have been) purchased with my own funds, but this does not include design team items that I have received or otherwise stated.

Until next time… keep crafting!!!!
