Altenew AECP All About Layering 2

Hello and welcome back, Joy here sharing a card inspired by the All About Layering 2 class. If you are interested, this class is free on the Altenew website and is perfect for a new stamper, as well as the seasoned stamper. I love that the class is broken up into 10 individual subunits that can be taken at your own pace. Let’s take a look at my card and then I will talk more about how I created it.

One of the modules in the class teaches about using smaller stamp sets to create backgrounds, and in the case the focal point. When I received my Mini Delight subscription this month, I couldn’t wait to create with it and it was a perfect fit for this class. The stamp set is made up of 3 layers, in this case the rind, melon and seeds. I like this stamp set because it gives you the freedom to stamp in a straight forward manner or take some artistic liberties. In this example I stamped it in the way that you would expect, but it very easily could have been stamped outside of the lines or misted lightly with water to get an artsy feel.

To create the watermelons, I stamped the melon with Coral Berry ink, and then stamped the rind with Just Green ink. I added the seeds with Jet Black. If you aren’t afraid to perform stamp surgery you could stamp one seed repeatedly forming a row of seeds, but I liked the offset look of this. To create more layers in my card I used the coordinating die to cut out the slices and mounted them onto a stitched rectangle die cut layered onto a black layer.

To step the card up a notch, I made a simple watercolor panel using Magenta and Ocean Teal Karin Brushmarker Pros, but any watercolor medium would work. I just love the soft wash of color accenting the watermelon slices. I’d love to know what you think!

Just a small disclaimer! All items used in all of my projects are (or have been) purchased with my own funds, but this does not include design team items that I have received or otherwise stated.

Until next time… keep crafting!!!
