As the weather changes and cooler days settle in, there is nothing better than wrapping your hands around a warm cuppa. Whether your favorite seasonal drink is a pumpkin spice latte, peppermint mocha, or something with an extra swirl of whipped cream, a cozy beverage always feels like a little hug in a mug!
But who says an autumn stamp set has to stay in autumn?
For this handmade holiday card, I gave the Pumpkin & Spice Stamp Set a playful peppermint twist—and the transformation is almost good enough to eat!
Turning an Autumn Stamp Set into a Christmas Card
The original image may have been designed with pumpkin-spice season in mind, but a little creative coloring completely changed its personality. Instead of coloring the pumpkins in traditional autumn shades, I used rich berry, pink, cream, and plum tones to make them resemble oversized peppermint candies.
The curved sections of the pumpkins were perfect for creating those beautiful candy-inspired stripes. Glittery accents along the ridges added even more sweetness and helped sell the illusion of sparkling peppermint treats.
This is such a fun reminder to look beyond the intended season of a stamp set. Changing the colors, patterned paper, and embellishments can open up an entirely new world of cardmaking possibilities!
Sugarplum Wishes Brings the Holiday Magic
The Sugarplum Wishes Paper Pack provided the perfect color palette for this unconventional Christmas card. Its soft cream, blush, plum, gold, and muted green tones coordinate beautifully with the peppermint-inspired images without relying on traditional bright red and green.
The diagonal striped background adds movement while directing the eye toward the large oval focal point. A deep plum mat frames the stamped scene and gives the entire design wonderful contrast.
I carried those same colors into the warm drink, florals, leaves, candies, and embellishments, creating a cohesive holiday card with an elegant sugarplum feel.
Sweet Details Make This Peppermint Card Pop
There is so much to discover in this festive design! The dimensional peppermint pieces overlap the oval frame, while the soft twine adds texture and ties the candy elements together. A colorful button, sparkling rhinestones, and touches of glitter provide just the right amount of holiday shine.
The sentiment, “Warm wishes brewed just for you,” stretches across the focal image and perfectly connects the cozy beverage theme with the warmth of the Christmas season.
The finished card is layered, whimsical, and wonderfully unexpected. At first glance, you see a delicious holiday drink surrounded by peppermint candies—but the secret is that those candies began as pumpkins!
