A challenge can sometimes push you out of your comfort zone. That’s exactly what happened with Craft Roulette’s Episode #258! The parameters this time were:
- For Someone Special
- Fruit Colors
- Critters
- Use Pencils
With these in mind, I picked up the Egg-stra Special stamp set from Pajama Crafter Stamps. I also grabbed my colored pencils. Then, I took some Pebbled Beach card stock (a light Kraft) to see what I could create.

Bringing It All Together
I started with Spring Plaid patterned papers. The colors were in warm, fruity hues. Think vibrant oranges, soft peaches, and a touch of lime green. These colors set a fun, playful tone while staying true to the “fruit colors” prompt. Layering different shades and textures helped build depth and dimension to the background.
For the focal point, I stamped the adorable critters from Egg-stra Special onto Pebbled Beach card stock. There’s something about colored pencils on Kraft that makes the colors pop in such a unique way! I carefully layered and blended my pencil strokes, adding highlights and shadows to bring the little critters to life. It took some patience, but the end result was so worth it!
The Final Touches
To complete the card, I used Coral Sunrise Confetti embellishments to add a polished look. A few finishing details—like white gel pen highlights and a sentiment perfect for someone special—brought everything together.
Did I Pull It Off?
I’d say YES! This challenge stretched my creativity, and I loved how the colored pencils added a soft, hand-drawn touch to the design. Plus, the combination of fruit-inspired colors and adorable critters made for a cheerful, heartwarming card.
