Layering Color and Pastes Makes For Quick Last Minute Cards

Hello friends! I am back with a project for Pajama Crafter Stamps that I made over the weekend during a virtual event. I was asked to color the Lovely Bouquet stamp set in an orange color, so I decided to go with a twist and use color theory to my benefit.

At this event I was crafting on the fly and taking requests. I was asked to color these flowers orange and leave the majority of the image uncolored. I almost broke out into hives with this request because I am not a huge fan of orange, and I like to color all of the things. But as promised I did it. After stamping Lovely Bouquet onto smooth cardstock, I broke out my red copics. I chose R 30, 32, 35 and went to town coloring the petals of the roses. I always like to add a little bit of green to my flowers to pick up the color of the leaves, but green and red are complimentary colors meaning when blended they turn to brown. I went with the YG01 because it is mostly yellow with just a tinge of green allowing for the colors to play nicely and create an orange hue. To the viewers amazement they got exactly what they asked for!

Now leaving the leaves without color was making my eyes twitch and I knew the card needed something else, so I instantly thought of a stencil. However, extra color wasn’t part of the equation. Luckily I was able to run a chuncky irridescent paste by Vicki Boutin through a Lattice stencil. Once that dried, it was my intention to blend black ink around the edges of the card panel, but I was mesmerized by the sparkle. I hope you can agree this card turned out amazing without a whole lot of effort. You will have to let me know what you think?
