Summer Time cards with Spellbinders and Simon Hurley Creates

As many of you know Christmas in July has kicked off for everyone, but I’m going to try to throw a combination of Christmas and Summer to change things up. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have a hard time creating winter themed projects when all I want to do is dip my toes into the sand or play in the garden. I guess you could say this is a confusing time of year for me. Lol Today I am sharing a few fun cards I made using Simon Hurley and Spellbinders Bundles. I hope you like them!

You all know by now that I am a sucker for either very clean and simple cards or very vibrant cards, so I decided to do a little bit of both in this post. My first card is obviously CAS, and features the Smooth Sailing set. The texture and details in these dies are amazing and for added dimension I layered them up a few time. But, we can forget the beautiful, Cast Away 3D embossing folder. Isn’t it the perfect pairing? To finish off the card I embossed the sentiment in copper and added a few iridescent gems.

This card also features the Smooth Sailing set, but I partially made a scene by stamping/ coloring the images, and die cutting the waves. This lighthouse stripes image is a solid stamp, so I made sure to smear the ink (on the stamp) to get the texture. From there I used my Copics to add more dimension and roundness to it. I free handed the rocks so that I had something to ground the lighthouse on. I think it worked well?

When I first saw the Watercolor Flowers set, I knew I had to stamp it as a silhouette on a sunset background. You have no idea how many pictures I take like this of nature, so I guess you could say I love it. I matted this on a black panel embossed with the Origami Folds 3D folder. I didn’t use any type of embellishment to finish off the card because I think it speaks for itself. Stunning. And Bold.

I thought I would show how beautiful the Watercolor Flowers set is when done in a soft color palette. This is just as striking as the bold design, but in an elegant way. For this card I stamped the foliage images using an ombre of three blue green inks. You could do this same effect with any colors you chose, but I am typically drawn to these. I paired this with a retired 3D embossing folder from the March 2023 subscription. There is a similar folder called Tile Reflection 3D folder if you are looking for a substitution for the one used.
