How To Embellish Sympathy Cards

I don’t especially love making sympathy cards, because I know what it means. However it is always easier to have one ready to go instead of making one in the middle of your grief. I always struggle with how ornate or how much to embellish sympathy cards, so today I am going to talk about elegant ways to embellish them. I love the Magnolia A2 Die from Whimsy Stamps so I chose to use that as my first embellishment.

I typically start all of my projects by die cutting first so I cut out the Magnolia A2 die and the 2nd largest of the Notched Rectangles using Bristol Smooth cardstock. I choose the Bristol because I am going to use Karin Brush Marker Pros to watercolor my image and I feel like I get the best results with it. I am also very picky about my white cardstock matching, so all pieces of the card, including the base are Bristol Smooth. I used 2 blends of the markers to watercolor the Sympathy, So Deeply Sorry stamp.

The tone on tone die cutting is the perfectly elegant way to embellish a sympathy card. I also think using gems that fade into the background are good too. Here I used clear dew drop gems that almost look like water droplets. Of course the flower is the star of the show, but if you notice, I used a little bit of white gel pen to brighten it up a little. These are such subtle things to do, but are very impactful in my opinion. You will have to let me know what you think.
