How To Create a Faux Die Cut Inlay

You all know I am a lazy crafter and will cut corners any way I can, if the design doesn’t pay the price for it. Today I am showing you how to create a faux die cut inlay technique that will take your clean and simple design up a notch. Since April showers bring May flowers I thought I would use the cute umbrella stamp from the Gnome Get Well set from Whimsy Stamps. And of course what could be happier than a rainbow?

I mentioned the faux die cutting technique. To be truthful this isn’t inlaying die at all. What I did was die cut the Slimline Zig Zag Edger from the center of a white card stock panel and removed the center piece. I love that it leaves the stitching on the outer edges. The center piece I am saving for another project. You also know that I love stretching my supplies, so here I am showing you that you can use slimline products on different card sizes. On another piece of white cardstock I blended Distress Oxides in the colors Candied Apple, Squeezed Lemonade, and Prize Ribbon which is acting as my inlay. After that I popped up the white die cut panels using 3D Foam Creative Sheets to give the card some dimension.

Tip: Using 3 primary colors you can make the full rainbow. Red, Yellow, Blue

Once the card was constructed I stamped the Gnome Get Well image using Copic friendly ink and then continued with the rainbow theme. I added a simple heart next to the sentiment and a few yellow enamel dots, and called it done! I just love how cheerful this card is!!
