Hello my friends I am back with another card with Sweet
Sentiment Stamps. Last I used the Motivational Mums stamp set, I made a flat card, but promised I would be back with a three dimensional flower arrangement, and why not give you a trio of Motivational Mums? This card took a couple of twists and turns, but ultimately I love the way it turned out.
I mentioned this took a few twists and turns. I started out by stamping all of the floral images three times and colored them with Copics. I didn’t love the color scheme that I chose because it was a little too muted tone of orange. Of course I didn’t figure that out until I started to layer my flowers. When I make these flowers I also lightly ink the back side in case during the shaping process the white back sides don’t show. To shape the flowers I literally crumpled them up in my hands before hot gluing the layers together. I also find crimping some of the flower tips give them a more realistic look.
I thought these pretty orange florals would be pretty on a purple background because they are opposite on the color wheel, or complementary colors. I already had this embossed panel using the Intertwined Lattice Embossing Folder from Spellbinders on my desk from previous project, so all I had to do was blend purple and red inks together to add the drama. Once the background was complete I matted it in onto a brushed gold panel and then started arranging the flowers. I love how big these Motivational Mums are, but if you prefer a smaller flower you could use two of the smaller layers. Now here comes the fun part, adding the color to the mums. Thankfully I didn’t have them glued onto the front panel, so I was able to spray them with Mica Sprays from Tim Holtz. Once dry, I then glued them down. What a process!!!!
