How To Stamp and Color on Glitter Cardstock

Hey friends! I experimented a little today and wanted to take you along on the journey! I tried stamping and alcohol marker coloring on glitter cardstock. Before you tell me that I can’t use my markers on this type of cardstock, this is Chameleon Sparkle Meteor Cardstock from Maker Forte which is marker SAFE!!! To test out this new to me technique I used my favorite stamp set, Poinsettia and Olo Markers.

Like I said this was an experiment, and I look forward to trying this out many more times. I stamped the Poinsettia with Eclipse Black ink onto an A2 sized Chameleon Sparkle Meteor cardstock three times. By using a Misti, I was able to layer the ink on three times with no problems. The reason for the multiple steps, is glitter card stock is a slick, multi dimension paper so some of the ink sits on top and some sinks in. You are left with a “no line” alcohol marker technique.

I want to warn you that normal glitter cardstocks are not compatible with your markers and will clog and rip up your nibs. However the Chameleon cardstocks will not.

I recommend that when coloring with multiple tones of markers to color one petal or leaf at time, and one marker at a time because the layers need a second to dry before adding the next color or you will loose the details. Once the coloring was complete, I placed the panel back into my Misti and stamped it with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink because it is a fine detail pigment ink that will sit on top of the glitter cardstock, and then I applied clear embossing powder to it to make it pop! Next I splattered the panel with gold acrylic paint. Once that was dry, I splattered it with 91% rubbing alcohol for additional texture.

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment strip that was embossed in white to contrast with the bold colors. The stamen needed a little more dimension, so gold Stickles were added to that area. Finally I added Aura Crown Jewels before calling it complete!
