Hi friends! I have a beautiful card to share with you today featuring a multi layered stencil technique creating an underlay for Copic coloring. Now try to say that three times quickly, I recently had a request from a friend to create a clean and simple card with spotlight stenciling and silhouette stamping, but naturally had to put my own spin on it which would be the Copics. Now the techniques in my video would be the same with the exception of adding color. I really loved using two stencils to create this fun background for the Chin Up Buttercup floral. You will have to tell me if I pulled it off… and Karen N if you’re reading this or watching, this is for you!!
This could very well be a one layer card, but I happen to love texture and dimension, and a thin black matting layer to make my cards pop. But of course, create in the style that you love. I started this card off by masking the card front panel with the Spotlight Circle Stencil and temporarily adhered it with Pixie Spray. Next I blended Lemon Color Hive ink through the circle, and then applied the Hexagon Burst Stencil over it. I then, blended the colors of Bubblegum and Blue Moon through it creating subtle washes of color.
Once the stenciling was complete, I stamped the Chin Up Buttercup floral with Eclipse Black ink so that the sentiment hugged the circle. Thankfully, the stamp set is all one piece and curved so lining it up was easy. Additionally I stamped the sub sentiment and die cut it into an oval. I also punched two holes in it to create the “tag”. Next I used 2-3 color blends of Copics to color the floral. You can find all of the details on the accompanied video and you will be pleasantly surprised at how fast this card came together!
