Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma It’s Me Your Favorite Cockatoo!

I’m curious do your kids ever ask you who your favorite child is? Well this time around I won’t have to fib, because I only have one cockatoo. Thank God for that! My chicken, without fail screams Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma… at the very top of her lungs each and every time I leave her view! You might think that’s cute, but trust me you can hear her scream four houses down. Just.. Ask.. My.. Neighbors! But really she is the most loving girl and even likes to snuggle under the covers! When Sabrina, of Scrappy Tails Crafts came out with this stamp set I was so excited because I was going to finally own a quiet bird! In case the macaw asks… she is my favorite macaw too!

This pretty cockatoo is from the Tropical Birds 6×8 stamp set which includes three parrots, one flamingo, multiple plant images, and even sentiments. What’s even nicer is there are coordinating dies so you can layer and collage to suit your fancy! And of course you can purchase them as a bundle at a discounted price. Another nice thing that Scrappy Tails started with this release was creating card kits which helps you put everything together and create wonderful cards. The Tropical Bliss Card Kit is still available and comes with this stamp set, a layered parrot die set, a stencil and a 6×6 paper pad.

I started off by blending three Distress Oxide inks through the Aztec stencil to create the background for my bird. Next I stamped the cockatoo, hibiscus flowers, and foliage from Tropical Birds onto smooth cards stock. Once they were stamped I colored them with Copic markers and then die cut them out. I also created a frame for my bird. I love dimension and texture, so I colored the extra flowers and leaves so that I could pop them up over the focal image creating multiple layers. This isn’t necessary, but I think adds a lot of interest to the card. To finish it off I added a few highlights with a white gel pen and a few gems. I just love how the reds pop from the background. I’d love to know what you think?
