Creating a Night Sky with Masking and Stamping with Dream Big

HI friends! I have a dreamy night sky to share with you today created by masking a stamped image callled Dream big by Marker Forte. I just love how this sky blended with Color Hive Inks, and course you know I colored the sweet bear with Copics. Let’s take a look…

Isn’t this sweet bear precious? I can think of so many ways to use him such as a “New Baby”, a children’s Birthday card, Encouragement, well you get it a lot of things. This set come with six images and six sentiments to meet all of your needs. To create this card I started by stamping the image onto smooth cardstock with Eclipse Black Color Hive Ink and also onto masking paper. The key to masking and ink blending around it is fussy cutting as close to the line work as possible or a little inside it. I chose not to cut all of the stars or the little bunny as I knew that I could color over it with Color Hive inks using my alcohol markers.

After placing the mask I blended the Color Hive inks in the colors Lemon, Acid Wash, Vegas Strip, and Sugar Plum to create the night sky. I want to mention that the Neon collection is not water reactive, such as the Acid Wash that I used. This was important in my design because I blending the darker colors over it and then splattered it water because then the Acid Wash shines through. I also splattered the background with white paint and dried it thoroughly before removing the mask with my Crafter’s Magic Wand. I colored the Dream Big image with Copics using the moon as the light source. You will notice his backside is the lightest or the highlight and his face and belly are in the shadow or colored the darkest. I add that because when we typically color, our tendency is to highlight the face and the round belly. Before assembling my card, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Eclipse black, and the image on the inside of the card with Fog Color Hive Ink. The inside sentiment was stamped with the same ink using the Ear-Resistible set. Whoa that was a lot to take in. Be sure to checkout the video below for all the details!
