Do you ever have to turn off all of the talking heads and quiet your mind? I have to often. All I have to say is relax and rule your own mind! I’ve taken some time for myself this weekend to get back to the things I love and create for no other reason than to relax. If you’ve been around for a while you will know that I love hippos and would totally have one for a pet if it were allowed. But until recently, I had to settle for one under my tree only! Earlier this year Sweet Sentiment released this awesome little hippo trying to find its own little slice of Namaste! Another thing I love our my Distress Oxide inks and as a new color (Uncharted Mariner) was released this weekend, I realized I haven’t used the last three that have been released so I changed that! While I await, the delivery of my new color, let’s take a quick look at my card today…

Believe it or not I started out by creating my background by blending the Distress Oxide inks in the colors Kitsch Flamingo, Saltwater Taffy, and Salvaged Patina through the Mandala Stencil. I left the top left corner fading into white and then blended the colors down the page leaving the darkest blend at the bottom right corner. While that dried I stamped the images from Rule Your Mind with Memento ink and colored them with Copics. I chose the BV 20-29 grouping which I normally use for cast shadows for this little hippo because I thought the purplish tone would look great with the background colors and boy was I right! After my coloring was completed I fussy cut the stamped images with my scan n cut because I hate cutting anything by hand! Finally I heat embossed the fun sentiment directly on top of the background. Shocking for me, this would be a single layer card with the exception of popping the hippo! Even though my confetti appears turquoise, they are an apricot iridescent, and that is what I love about them.. the shift changing aspect!!!
