Hello friends! Layering dies combined with dramatic colors and textures grabs your eye instantly, and I think the Layered Orchids from Scrappy Tails is a perfect example of this. I used two teal colors, but adding ink strategically makes for a dramatic backdrop for this beautiful flowers. Let me know if you think I pulled it off?
Creating this card was a breeze because the most solid die in the Layered Orchids set embossed the lines so that you can line up the layers easily. I love that Sabrina thinks of every detail so that we the maker don’t have to “think”. I started out by die cutting two of the bases so that I would add extra dimension, but it isn’t a necessary step. Next I cut the intricate layers of the flowers in two shades of teal. You will notice a third, blue which was obtained by applying navy ink. Finally I cut the leaf detail and stamen from a matte silver paper. The fun part was adhering the layers, building the flower. You will notice that the background is embossed and a deeper blue. I applied the same ink to the teal paper, but made it a darker blend creating the dramatic backdrop for the floral. Last, but not least I heat embossed the sentiment from the Sweet Bear stamp set in white. Pretty simple right… but oh so pretty!!!

What dramatic card!! I love it. I really like the leaves black with white highlights. The embossing folder must be a 3D. The layers on the flowers are perfect on that deep blue background. You’ve encouraged me to start using more dramatic colors! Thanks!
I’m so glad you like it. And yes definitely 3D. I’m a feel all the textures kinda girl. I can’t wait to see what you create
