Ink Smooshing and Watercolor Techniques With Digital Stamps

Hello friends! How are you today? I’m pretty excited because I tried a new technique today. Did you know you can print on top of premade backgrounds? I didn’t either, but this opens up all kinds of new ideas now. Anyhow today I am featuring the digital stamp, Truly Inspire from Joy Clair Designs. This stamp set comes with two images and four encouraging sentiments. I used one image, but three times in my project. Let’s get into it!

As I mentioned I started my project with a background and printed the Truly Inspire images right on top of using my laser printer. I was happy that watercolor would feed easily through my printer, or I would have gone with a Bristol. In Photoshop Elements I sized and layered the florals creating an arrangement onto a project sized 4 x 5.25 inches and saved it. I then dropped into a Word Document because I find it easier to print four card fronts on one page in that software. The reason I made four panels was because I inked up a full 8.5 x11 inch sheet of watercolor paper in order to feed through my printer. I would suggest inking on the smooth side so that your printer creates the most crisp image possible. I then water colored the flowers with Karin Brush Pro Markers. Be sure to check out the entire process in the video below!
