Merry Birthday, Is That a Thing?

Hello friends! For those of you who have December and January birthdays do you feel like you get gipped out of a gift? I have to admit I get tired of receiving gifts wrapped in Christmas paper. I even contemplated changing birthday by six months lol. Anyhow I just did the same exact thing to my bestie. Her birthday is this week and I am giving her a Merry Birthday card. Lord, forgive me.!

I started this image called Rudolph from Whimsy stamps two weeks and just got around to finishing it up. I used a fun technique that I learned from Jen Dove using Copic blending solution on a piece of burlap to add texture to the background. I used this very sparingly because I knew I was going to splatter it to look like snow, but if you look closely you will be able to see it. To finish off my card I added a Merry word die from Hero Arts and part of a sentiment from Blue Knight Rubber stamps for the birthday. This really was a simple card, but I think she’s going to love it.

Just a small disclaimer! All items used in all of my projects are (or have been) purchased with my own funds, but this does not include design team items that I have received or otherwise stated.

Until next time… keep crafting!!!!

  1. What an utterly and completely adorable holiday greeting. Your colouring always knocks my socks clean off.

Are you familiar with the concept of a “Half Birthday”, aka “Halfer Day”? It is when a person celebrates the six-month mark to their birthday either instead of, or in conjunction annually with, their actual birthday.

For those born on/around major holiday seasons, it can be a stellar way to have a special day all to your own – with little risk of receiving presents wrapped it Christmas paper.

    1. I haven’t not ever heard of it, but I’m in full agreement with Halfer Day!!! My husband will be required to celebrate this with me for now on lol. And oh my goodness thanks for your kind words about my coloring. It is definitely a work of heart. Have a great holiday season!
      Hugs, Joy
