Quick and Fun Snowy Christmas Cards

Hello friends! It’s been a blizzard of creating in my studio this weekend with fun splattered backgrounds, and stamps and dies from Scrappy Tails Crafts. Every year I start out with the intent to create Christmas cards each month, but by February, I have already dropped the ball. Does that ever happen to you? Well, my solution to catch up with my goal is to mass produce as many cards as possible and for me that means simple ink blended backgrounds and beautiful dies.

As I mentioned I used Distress Oxides because they are a dream to blend and happen to be my favorite medium for all of the backgrounds. Once I was happy with the blends I then splattered them with white acrylic paint and laid them aside to dry. I then got busy die cutting the Large Elegant Deer die which I cut from heavy cardstock so I wouldn’t feel the need to stack them to get a chipboard appearance. My next step was stamping the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Christmas Icons stamp set directly onto the card base. I did cheat a bit and used my acetate grid to line it up on my Misti before stamping all of them, which is nice because you only have to line up the sentiment one time. I then trimmed my backgrounds down to 3.5 x 4.75 inches before adhering them to the card base. My last steps were adding the Large Elegant Deer and a few gems to complete the card.

Blend: Evergreen Bough and Cracked Pistachio
Blend: Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass
Blend: Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar
Blend: Seedless Preserves and Shaded Lilac
