Autumn Inspired Distress Oxide Ink Blend and Gold Embossing

Hello friends! I have a beautiful gold embossed card featuring Distress Oxide blends and the Autumn Impressions stamp set from Trinity Stamps. I mentioned in an earlier post, that I’m going back to the basics and using mediums that I adore and Distress Oxides were my first love. Even though they are my tried and true, there are a lot of colors that I haven’t explored yet so today I am going to share a new blend with you. My second medium I fell in love with and use almost daily is heat embossing so it was only natural to include this in my card today. Let’s take a look…

I created a mini slimline card base to start with measuring 7×6.5 inches and scoring at 3.5 on the long side. I think this is the most widely accepted size for mini slim lines, but know some use 3×6 inch cards. Typically I use Bristol Smooth card stock for ink blending, but honestly I used what was on my desk, being Hammermill and it worked just fine. My Distress Oxide blend consists of Crackling Campfire, Salvaged Patina, and Iced Spruce. Once I was happy with the blend I dried it with my heat gun and tested it with clear embossing powder to make sure it was dry before stamping.

My first step in creating my scene with Autumn Impressions was to lay out the sentiment to get it perfectly centered. I recommend using an acetate grid made for your Misti stamping tool to get your sentiments straight. I treated the area with an anti static tool before stamping the sentiments and leaves to prevent any extra powder from sticking. I stamped 3-4 leaves at a time using my Misti and then heat embossed them in gold fine detail powder. Once my stamping was completed I used a mini slimline die from my stash to frame up the scene. For a little embellishment I added gold splatter and a few iridescent gold flat sequins. I decided my white card base didn’t fit the scheme so I added a layer of peacock colored cardstock to it before adhering the front panel. I just love these colors together and am pleased with the blend. I’d love to know what your favorite fall blends are. Leave me a comment below!
