Thank You, My Sparkly Friend

Hello crafters! I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend? I’m heading out the door for the pool, but wanted to share a quick card I made for my sparkly friend. I am featuring the digital stamps, To You from Joy Clair Designs for this stunning card. Let’s take a look…

I used a mood board that Joy Clair Designs is offering as inspiration to their fans and we hope you will give it a try and share with us your creations. Be sure to tag us! #joyclairdesigns #joyclairmoodboard

For my project I chose to use Copics, so I printed the To You stamp set onto smooth cardstock with a laser printer. I sized the image a little smaller than it populated, fitting a 4 x 5.25 inch panel. The coloring was very simple for this card, so it would be very easy for mass production. I only needed one in my case.

When coloring something translucent like, bubbles, glass, or diamonds you still have to add color. What I find is using a cool grey or grey/blue green works well to define the edges. But the key is to strategically add the colors of the focal image in at least 3 areas to give the illusion of translucence. If you look closely I added the salmon color and yellow along the angles of the diamond to achieve this. The way I was taught was to put the strongest color more vibrant to where he object (flower)is closest and then lighter at the furthest edge if that makes sense. Feel free to blow the image up for a closer look.

One thing, I like about digital stamps is that you have creative liberty to change things up. Earlier I mentioned that I sized the image, but I also changed the sentiment a bit. The original sentiment reads: “thank you for your kindness,” but I eliminated that sub sentiment in my editing software. I used Photoshop Elements, but you should be able to do this with many free editing software programs as well.
