Bees Truly Are Extraordinary

Hello friends! I am so happy to share this extraordinary bee card with you that I created for Joy Clair Designs, featuring the digital stamp Extraordinary. Until I met my husband, I didn’t care about bees in the slightest, but then he changed my mind. He loves bees and plants as many flowers as possible to attract them into our yard. I was so scared at first because I didn’t want to get stung, but I have soon realized they aren’t after me, but the sweet nectar in the yard… and let’s face it I am NOT sweet. Lol. I’m going to talk about my card first, and then I will share a few things about bees too!

I finally gave in and jumped on the Distress Oxide Spray bandwagon, and I am in love. I chose to start with those because I knew I would have to give it time to dry. You can find the color combinations below. Once dry I ink smooshed the same colors using distress inks, drying between each layer. While that dried, I printed out the bee image and sentiment from Extraordinary onto smooth cardstock and colored them with Copics. Later, I decided to print the sentiment onto colored cardstock so that it blended better with my background. I die cut the honey comb with a set from my stash, and opted to leave some of the hexagons in it to add interest and then backed it with gold shimmer cardstock. I planned out where I wanted the Extraordinary bee and then built my sentiment cluster from hexagon die cuts. I felt like my card needed a little extra shimmer and shine so I added some gold sequins and splattered gold acrylic paint strategically. I highly recommend the splattering before adhering the image and sentiments, but hindsight is 20/20. I’m betting we all have done that once or twice? But that wraps up my card for the day!

Now more about bees!!!
Did you know that 90% of plants and 75% of global crops depend on bees for pollination… pretty busy huh? Also bees live just about anywhere, such as between shingles, in marshes, in chalk, sand dunes… well you get the picture! Crazy, but true they have their own transportation pathways called Bee Lines that can run Nationwide!!! We can help save the bees, by doing like my husband does and grow beautiful gardens that attract them where they can spread all four of their wings and maybe give them a place to wash their smelly feet. Okay.. I’m not that smart I looked up all of these fun facts and you can find them HERE!
