Hi and welcome back to my crafty place! Have you heard the saying, “Red skies at night, a sailor’s delight; red skies in the morning, sailor take warning?” I happen to love irony, and am featuring the Fairy Hugs Sunken Ship stamp set, as a ship in its full glory is in front of a red sky sunset! I just love it! In addition to showing off the beautiful Sunken Ship stamp, I am featuring red night skies.

Creating the Background:
I made this background by blending several Distress Oxide Inks onto 120# card stock. I chose this heavy card stock so that it would remain sturdy through the saturation, and heat embossing. To back up for a second, I used a die cut circle mask for the moon, then started the blend.

The Sunken Ship:
I stamped the Sunken Ship using a Misti stamping tool and Raven Pigment ink. Once happy with the impression I got, I applied clear embossing powder and heat set it. I added a bit of detail to the ocean and blended right over the ship, because the embossing resists the ink. Very easy to do and wipes right off with a damp baby wipe.

The Final embellishments:
I added the “stars” by splattering Perfect Pearls onto the the background to give the night sky some shimmer. The fish net stocking ribbon, was a fun addition and still a little punny! (is that a word?) I used a bird brad and a distressed safety pin with a silver medallion for a little more interest.

The final impression:
The sailors enjoyed their red sky evening!

One more tip: Making evening clouds is so easy with a narrow makeup brush and chipped sapphire distress inks.
