Dot Coloring Technique With Copics

Hi and welcome back to my crafty place! Today I am bringing you the popular dot coloring technique featuring the Joy Clair photo-polymer clear stamp set, Love Endures. The Love Endures stamp set has beautiful leaves, acorns and sentiments which are perfect for Autumn cards. I can’t wait to show you how the dot coloring came out on this card!

Before starting my project I admittedly did an internet search of fall colored maple leaves and found that not only do they have many colors, but they are speckled too. In my opinion this search helped because it made the coloring easier! I stamped the leaf images from Love Endures, twice in Memento ink as it is alcohol marker friendly ink, so that I would have plenty to make a bouquet and decorate the inside of my card as well.

I started out with a simple wash of yellow ink over all of my leaves and added green to some of the bases and others orange. Along the veins I outlined them in a dark red to give dimension. Once the basics were down I held my various markers upright ( straight up and down) and started making dots to obtain the textures and colors of Autumn leaves. Using the same yellow that I started with, I went over each leaf one more time to give it a good blend. I promise, dot coloring is the easiest technique to try, if you haven’t already!

I embossed an egg plant colored layer to add more texture to the card and matted that onto Solid Golds Stack Mat card stock. I used the same Gold paper to make a sentiment strip with the “thanks” from Love Endures and heat embossed that with black embossing powder. I popped the sentiment strip up on foam tape so that I could tuck some of the leaves under it and then layer some on top to create the dimensional bouquet.

Tip: Do you see how perfectly the twine matches the card stock? I typically color my twine with a matching alcohol marker!! It works every time!!

Okay I think that pretty much sums up this beautiful, but easy to create card! I hope this inspires you to take a look at the Joy Clair Designs Shop today!
