ATC Mixed Media Fun

Hi and welcome back, Joy here with some mixed media fun with Brutus Monroe! Are you a seasoned ATC fan, or new to the trend? Regardless, you’re going to have so much fun making these as it is an expression of you, that you share with other artists. I think of it as the beloved baseball cards from our childhood, but now we are the featured stars!!!

I got very inky with my ATC’s because it is my artistic therapy, but it you prefer a more clean and simple look, I encourage to follow that. It’s so important that you create your own ending and be YOU! I’m going to share mine before I go into the process.

My first step in preparing my ATC Blanks was adding white gesso so that the chipboard would tolerate more water, give a white background, and add texture. I don’t recommend skipping this step. Once dried I applied Sparkle Aqua Pigments in the colors, purple, blue, red, and green with a water brush and by ink smooshing. I dried the cards in between layers of colors to prevent too much warping.

Once happy with the results, I stamped the cards using my Misti, Embossing ink, and Raven Fine Detail embossing powder. After embossing the the Groovy Friends stamps, I then colored them with same Sparkle Pigments. Using media paste and stencils (Mermaid Lagoon-Tangled Waves, Circle Tone, and Flower Burst), I added fun texture. For the final touches I used the printable Click Labels to for sentiments.

I hope this inspires you to express your creative side and make some Artist Trading Cards today. Then maybe find others to trade with… I treasure the ATC’s I have received from my crafty friends.
