Hello and welcome back! I had so much fun making these inky ATC’s using almost the same products for each one, but they each turned out differently. If you ever get into a creative slump, I highly recommend trying ATC’s because they are small and give you the freedom to go anywhere with them. I had no direction when I started these, but made one decision to incorporate the Take Flight stamp on each card because it is one of my favorite stamps. I love butterflies, because they start out in such a fragile state, but meta morph into stunning beings. Art is like that too, I hope to encourage to make something that you are unsure of and keep going until it’s stunning too!
For this ATC I started out with a base coat of Distress Oxide Antique Linen and Vintage photo. I then dripped the beautiful Metallic Hyper Pigments in Gold and Copper down the front. Once dry, using Raven Detail ink and the Lace Doily added texture with a blending brush. I did the same thing at the top using Alabaster Pigment Ink, and the Lace Trim stencil, but smooshed it to get a messy look on the upper edge. . I then stamped the Take Flight butterfly with Raven Detail ink, and added dots on the wings. I know you’re going to ask, so I took dental floss and threaded a few sequins to get that cool added detail. One last thing I did before adding the wood embellishment was to tear up a gauze bandage, color it, and apply it under the heart. I bit of Distress oxide ink in Peacock Feathers was added around the edges. I did add a Lunch Bag backing to cover the floss on the back side.
This ATC did not go as planned, but I love the final outcome. That’s why I say just keep going. I started out by applying Black Soot Distress oxide ink to the entire card. Using Embossing Ink and Teal Night Shift Embossing powder I embossed the Botanical Banners floral stamp. I then applied the Neon Blue Chroma Glaze through the Digital Drops Stencil and let it dry. After that I applied Distress Oxide inks in Abandoned Coral and Peacock Feathers. In Raven Detail Ink I partially stamped the Lots Of Love background stamp. Over the embossing, glazing and inking, I then stamped the Take Flight Butterfly in 3 places using the Abandoned Coral to add more texture. Finally I added the Frosted Halo Fabulous Fibers and the wood embellishment from my stash.
This ATC packs a big punch, but was very easy to make. I started out by inking the entire piece of chipboard with Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers, and then stamped in Raven Detail ink the Take Flight butterfly in multiple positions to form the background. I then applied Alabaster Glitter Glaze through the Circle Tone stencil using a palette knife. While that dried, I stamped the butterfly onto white wash card stock with Raven Detail ink. I added a little Coral Aqua Pigment and water into a mister and then sprayed the fussy cut image. I curled the wings a bit with my bone folder and popped up the center with foam tape. Finally the Tim Holtz Small talk sentiment was added. Super Easy!
This is my favorite of the four, because I let go and just let things happen versus trying to control the final projects. I think the sentiment is perfect as it takes a lot of bravery “to let things go”. Here using blending brushes I added Distress Oxides in shades of Peacock Feathers, Abandoned Coral and Seedless Preserves to obtain the first layers. I did add a light mist to activate the inks. Next I dripped the Surface Spray, Cabbage down the front and then heat set it to get the bubbly effect. I then used a coral acrylic paint to the right corner. Next time I would used a Chroma Glaze Pen because they are easier to control and would give a better effect. And of course I stamped the Take flight butterflies again with Raven Detail ink because it is my favorite black ink. For the final touches I used a white gel pen color in the dots.
From this process, the one thing I hope you have taken away is to be brave, and Create Your Own Ending!!!!
