Hello and welcome back to my happy place! I have boat loads of fun for you today! It’s our birthday at Classic Design Challenges and we are celebrating with FiIVE sponsors this month!! And that means some fabulous prizes for you! Our sponsors for this celebrations are: Di’s Digital Stamps, Lemon Shortbread, JMC Design Art, and Goha Digital Stamps, and The Paper Shelter! Please checkout each of these sponsors as they have some of the cutest designs around, and be sure to join in our challenges! I can’t wait to see what you create this month!!
My first card is made using an image from Di’s Digital Stamps which is the cutest mouse ever. I made this card with idea of sitting on a bed side table to cheer someone up. I don’t know about you, but have you noticed that when you visit loved ones in the hospital that their cards get knocked over or pushed aside? That drives me crazy, so with that in mind, I constructed this card so it would pop a bit it if it were laying flat. The construction was quite simple as I layered papers from Echo Park, Hello Summer onto navy/pool/orange card stock, but I curled or rolled the cloud print paper making the image stand up. This darling beach scene was colored with Copic Markers and Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass ink. I added a navy twine by Recollections and called it done!
My second card to share with you is features Lemon Shortbread and it has a classic 80s look to it. Honestly it reminds me of my Mother lol and maybe my hairstyle back then. I loved making this card, because once upon a time I said, “the first boy who buys me yellow tulips, will be the one I marry.” In retrospect the boy that brought me yellow tulips was a very close friend, but I wouldn’t marry him. I broke his heart! Back to the card… I made an A7 card because I loved the K& Co Susan Winget Floral background paper and wanted to use as much as possible. I even fussy cut the butterfly from the same sheet and inked the edges with Distress Oxide Vintage Photo. I stamped the Unity Stamp Co Heartfelt Sentiments with Versafine Onyx black ink and die cut it with My Favorite Things Fishtail Banner. The image was colored with Copics and matted on a dusky blue and gray card stock. For the finishign touches I added pink rhinestones. I hope you like this flashback to the 80s!
My third card features Cosmo Polly from JMC Designs Art. I had so much fun coloring this one with Copic markers and testing out how to get the colors to blend to get the perfect combination of fuschia and orange in the cosmo. I broke out good old friends, Tim Holtz Alcohol inks. For this background I used posterboard to test out how the inks would flow and it worked perfectly. After the inks dried I used Tim Holtz Festive Repearts dies to add more texture. I then stamped the sentiments by Crafter’s Comapanion Razzle Dazzle and All That Jazz stamp sets in Black Licorice fusion ink by FSJ. For the final embellishment I used clear dew drop gems adhered with glossy accents. I hope you love this fun design as much as I do!
My fourth and final card features Namaste from The Paper Shelter. I love this card, as it is a reminder to all of us to take care of ourselves and find peace. I of course, colored this image with Copic markers and then matted it onto purple and black card stock. I used a designer paper from my all time favorite pack from Altenew called Reflection. I die cut my sentiment from Spellbinders Relax and Enjoy card kit from March 2018 and once adhered, glossy accents were added to it. For the final bells and whistles I scattered a few turquoise sequins around. I love how this turned out and know exactly who it’s going to!
Thank you so much for sticking around for the end of this post. I hope that you play along in our Fourth Birthday Celebration at Classic Design Challenges! I can’t wait to see what you create and hopefully you are a lucky winner!!!!
